People ask about my logo.  It is a dendritic crystal growing in all three directions.  Metals are crystals.  Metals are useful as engineering alloys because of their crystalline structure.  The good properties of ductility, malleability, ability to conduct both heat and electricity and its good strength are based upon the order and alignment of the crystal structure.  My logo is showing the perfect three dimensional growth of a phase of a metal as it solidifies under perfect conditions.  The art and science of metallurgy is based on the understanding of the crystalline nature of metals and their alloys.  The wonderful engineering alloys we use in every part of our lives are based on understanding how to control and modify the crystalline nature of metals.
